Just when I feel like I am at my wits' end in trying to explain to people why they must not condone the current Democratic Party nominee by voting for him, along comes these great words, part of a larger and important piece written by River Daughter at the Confluence.
"The media did the picking of our nominee this year. The voters were superfluous. We on the Democratic side were steamrolled if we wanted Hillary Clinton. We’ve been told that neither our opposition or our votes are legitimate. Both the DNC and the media had a hand in stripping us of our ability to affect the election. But our resistance to Obama is not about Hillary anymore. It’s about preserving our right to self determination."

You know, I have been accused of losing my sense of humor lately, being full of doom and gloom, not my usually witty self apparently. Well, guess what? Nothing is funny today and all I am able to foresee right now is doom and gloom. I guess my seat is a bit closer to the purported "ground zero" of the economic crisis than some others'. After the crash of 1929 it took about 2-3 years for the fallout to really be felt throughout the country but because of the massive amounts of foreclosed mortgages and those that will soon be foreclosed, I don't think it's going to take half as long for the rest of the country to feel this as heavily. I personally am fortunate in that, so far, I believe my position is relatively secure and stable. Not so for many many others in all walks of life. So yeah, this doomy gloomy stuff you read in the papers is real and coming to a neighborhood near you very soon.
As for the political future, well more doom and gloom await us all there as well. obama looks to have a substantial lead on his white house dream, along with the left wing/right wing democratic party comedy act of pelosi, reid, frank, and assorted players, I believe there is not a snow ball's chance in hell that the United States of America will come through this economic crisis, two wars, the widening cultural divide, and our environmental emergency anytime soon, if ever. Our gov't will end up over-regulating to the extreme just as it has under regulated to the extreme. There will be no bipartisanship in Congress, there will be no peace in this country or anywhere in this world, there will be no solutions to our global climate crisis, and there will be no more hope in me.
