Apparently, the problem of misogyny simply has not hit MoveOn's radar screen. Combating misogyny is not even on the ballot MoveOn is circulating to its 5 million members to vote upon to choose the organization's top 3 goals for the coming year. Go look.
Meanwhile, here is the official record of 51 Percent's incorporation, hot off the presses. (Click on image for larger view.) For friends of 51 Percent, some great news is that with incorporation comes tax exemption for contributions, because we are entitled, by law, to the presumption that we will gain the appropriate status from the IRS.
And here are the organizational goals as stated in the Articles of Incorporation. (Click on image for larger view.)
It has been thanks to the support of those who have been able to lend it that 51 Percent has been able to move rapidly toward being ready for action in 2009, enabling incorporation and a soon-to-be circulated press release. The next phase of development is a separate website for 51 Percent, and a way for Friends of 51 Percent to access special areas on the website. With over three hundred million people in the country and assuming that there are both men and women interested in eliminating the hatred of women and increasing their presence in the public sphere, I believe we can build 51 Percent into an organization to dwarf all organizations. Not because misogyny is the only social ill I care about or encourage others to; but because the effort to combat misogyny deserves a room of its own (with apologies to Virginia Woolf).
For now, donations to support this blog will speed website development for 51 Percent and help to begin its misogyny memorablia collection. If you can give without putting yourself under financial pressure, please consider a donation:

Heidi Li, thank you and God Speed on the web development. I quit MoveOn.org when they asked is I was sure about my vote for Hillary when they asked their members to vote...I didn't know they were dead set on Obama. It has really become MoveObamaOn.org.
