If you can watch this - one of the rare times when seeing and hearing an "official ceremony" provides information the transcript alone cannot.
One rare occasion where the obvious respect and friendship of those onstage comes through. A display by Secretary of State Clinton of the poise, graciousness, intelligence and humor to which I aspire. Vice-President Biden set the tone. Secretary Clinton's family warmed to it.
It is like watching an old friend and her lovely family during these events. The warmth, caring, and humor just jump out. The authenticity, too. It is in stark contrast to the contrivance of that one. [...]

It's also the difference between watching people who have nothing to prove and those who have yet to accomplish.

Yes Lililam.
I felt the same way. I loved the line about cultural cues....i think we know what that means. More carbonation, flashy graphics and topless parading on the beach. Less boring policy speeches, late night work sessions and pant suits. ***sigh****

Yes, Heidi, you really zeroed in the substance of this event. I felt the warmth and kindness and good spirits of everyone at this wonderful event. And I felt saddened afterwards....that Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton is not the president. She would have truly healed the deep divides and not dispense some trite mechanical "bipartisan" pablum masquerading as "transcending politics as usual". If there's anyone who's clearly shown he is anything but transcendant or of superior intellect, it's Obama. Unless, of course, arrogance and sleaze-as-usual have become synonyms.....
Hillary's words to her employees on the first day on the job was to remind them to always be "of good cheer and a strong heart...and work hard". That's a true leader!

Thank you Heidi Li. That was wonderful. So nice to have the unifying force that is Hillary Clinton.

Kansas is working on the ERA too. Kansas NOW is pushing for passage. Our problem is Republican male reps. At least one man is voting against the ERA because his wife doesn't support it. Not this first time I have run across this in Kansas.
